4th of November 2010
I haven't posted anything in a long time because I was quite busy at work. I'mmore relaxed now as I just finished working on the remake of the classic GoldenEye 007 game. This time it's for the Wii and with Daniel Craig and all updated contemporary scenery.
I was in charge of all the Compositing and Motion Graphics for the Intro Credits and Smart Phone Level Briefings. Check out the videos on IGN (ilnks below) THe game is geting prety good reviews, and although I'm not a FPS fan, I have to say it's pretty fun and it's looking pretty sweet. So check it out.

Besides Fine Arts and Animation, I also love mountaneering, and since I started climbing mountains I decided to keep a visual memory of the places I went. I wasn't always able to draw on the spot due to weather conditions, but I tried as much as I could. A lot of these date back to 2004 and I have published them in the past, but I wanted to really share them with you. That is why I am releasing these watercolors under the Creative Commons License. This means that you can download these images in high resolution for free and do with them whatever you like, as long as you give me credit. Enjoy! More to come soon.

Editorial and the iPad
24th of April 2010
It's quite interesting to see how the iPad might change the way we read printed media. All the sudden we have animated pages in a magazine. If this trend continues, and I think it will, then we are looking on almost a new medium. Not just magazines, neither a video, but a nonlinear interactive and animated way of looking at content. This is quite exciting not only for the industire-s it onvolves, but maybe also for those that are concerned about saving some trees.
The a look at the interactive magazine here:

I found this website though SwissMiss blog. I couldn't stop laughing, but I'm afraid that a lot of it is true. I've heard at least two or three of the phrases posted here.

IdN Extra 01: Cut&Paste
14th of April 2010
A bit of an old story... but some time ago I was part of a Live Design Competition in London, Cut and Paste. This is a global event that takes place in various cities around the world every year. It's main purpose is to bring people together and showcase how visual artists work + some music and beer. The competition takes a couple of designers and each one has 15 minutes to create an artwork about a specific theme. Its an event like no other. Great fun.
International Designers Network Magazine published a special edition book showcasing all the artists around the world that participated in Cut and Paste.

About my stuff
6th of April 2010
When I show my artwork to people I get very different reactions, but a common question is about my technique. I thought I might mention it here.
It's both handmade and digital. I do a lot of work by hand, I use colour pencils, ink and watercolor. Then I scan the artwork and I paint the rest digitally. This process allows me to take the best of both worlds. You are not impressed, are you? I know, it's nothing complicated. Take a look at the image below.
I prefer heavy watercolor paper because of the rich texture, these brands are my choice: Fabriano, Canson, Arches, Hahnemühle. For other art materials I like these brands: Windsor&Newton, Derwent and Prismacolor. On the digital side I mainly use Corel Painter, but Adobe Photoshop comes in handy as well.
El Cóndor Ciego (The Blind Condor)
6th of April 2010
This is a graphic novel that I illustrated for Alvaro Alemán back in 2005. We worked on the project for a couple of weeks and he introduced my to the world of the graphic novel. Thanks to him I discovered Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Sin City, Maus, Kabuki, and so many others that over the years I became a fan of. "El Cóndor Ciego" is based on a short story writen by ecuadorian writer César Dávila Andrade. Imagine something similar to Animal Farm but in a much poetic and nonspecific political scenario based in Ecuador. You can dowload it for free but I'm afraid that at this moment is only available in Spanish. This graphic novel is released under the Creative Commons license and you may distribute it and use it as long as you credit the creators.
Download the graphic novel for free. PDF (12Mb)
